The Wisconsin Veterans Home in King (WVHK) is seeking a full-time Medical Program Assistant-Associate, to serve as the Heath Unit Clerk for an assigned member care unit. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Position Summary
Under general supervision of a Nursing Supervisor and with day-to-day direction from licensed nursing staff, the Health Unit Clerk provides administrative program support and coordination for a nursing unit at WVHK. Duties include acting as the key resource person on the nursing unit for transcribing, recording, maintaining, obtaining and retrieving records and clinical information, to assist nurses, physicians and all other disciplines responsible for member care. The incumbent follows and incorporates medical standards for recording and maintaining clinical records in a long-term-care facility and ensures paperwork for required reporting is completed within established timelines.

Salary Information
Starting wage is $21.66 per hour, plus an attractive employee benefits package.
This position is in pay schedule-pay range 02-11. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Pay for current State employees will be set per applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.
This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.
Job Details
The Health Unit Clerk works Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with holidays as needed and no weekends or overtime.
Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
In their resume, minimally qualified applicants will describe their training and/or experience using medical terminology.
Well-qualified applicants will list their degree/s or certification/s in medical administrative support or related fields.
Additional required and preferred qualifications that will be assessed later in the selection process are experience:
- Using computers to complete work tasks; and
- Providing administrative support to a work unit; and
- With customer service and teamwork; and/or
- Using Microsoft Office Suite to complete work tasks; and/or
- Maintaining electronic healthcare records (e.g., Point-Click-Care, EPIC, etc.)
- Independently organizing workload and completing tasks timely
