SUMMARY:
The Quality Technician holds responsibility for the safety and quality of the products manufactured, and executes quality control functions.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Follow time and attendance guidelines in accordance with the employee handbook.

- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Intermediate computer knowledge and skills.
- Ability to use computer programs and maintain spreadsheets in Excel.
QUALITY CONTROL REQUIREMENTS
- Knowledge of and ability to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Understanding of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and its importance.
- Follow & monitor to assure all Safe Quality Food (SQF) guidelines are implemented & followed.
- Maintain excellent personal hygiene and wear appropriate apparel for the job.
NOTE: Required to report food safety problems or concerns immediately to a person with authority to initiate action as indicated on the organizational chart.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
- Practice safe lifting techniques, bending and lifting with your legs, not your back.
- Be aware of your surroundings, watch for forklift traffic & trip hazards such as pallets or cords.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the job you are doing.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS
- Associate Degree or bachelor’s degree Preferred
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities
Weight - 70% of the day-to-day job:
Administrate inbound and outbound quality control processes (COA, micro, release, etc.)
- Perform material inspections, record review, and document results
- Coordinate testing, COA creation, sensory, and manage retains processes
- Take actions on non-conformances
- Verify ingredient micro results on COA meet specifications prior to release in inventory for manufacturing consumption
- Verify finished good batch records, CCP, and CIP records meet expectations prior to finished product shipment (within 7 days)
- Verifying finished good key attributes (micro, moisture, salt, sensory) meet specifications prior to release
- Document pertinent product information and utilize inventory system to either hold non-conforming products or release acceptable product meeting specifications
- Elevate non-conformances with clear detailed of the problem, and with a sense of urgency to appropriate cross functional teams. Work through issue resolution with CSR’s QA, and Supply Chain partners (planner, scheduler, distribution)
- Follow non-conformance hold procedures
- Support shelf-life extension process in partnership with Quality Specialist. Follow instructions provided by Quality Specialist.
- Generate finished product COA’s.
Weight - 15% of the day-to-day job:
Coordinates new item setup & commercialization activities
- Perform system configuration and setup for new items (raw materials, finished goods, label creation)
- Communicate internally/externally product specifications
- Partner and coordinate with internal/external resources for smooth product launches in the spirit of getting it right the first time
- Execute system changes as it relates to formula revisions
Weight - 15% of the day-to-day job:
Respond to internal and external requests in a timely manner
- Completes and responds to supplier documentation requests (specifications agreements, COA examples, food safety or quality related questionnaires)
- Assists with investigations
Weight - 5% or less***:
Verify information/records and organize file systems
- Perform label verification
- Supporting site initiatives
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by manager.
