Description of Organization:
Build & Brew Cafe's mission is to integrate people with and without special needs.
At Build & Brew Cafe we believe that there are many opportunities to be part of a community. We have created many different social, recreational and employment programs to promote and facilitate community inclusion. We help the individuals and families we serve find the best paths to their most enriched lives.
We offer classes and workshops in life, job, and entrepreneurial skills, culinary arts, performance and visual arts, and a variety of STEM areas. Our technology classes range from basic computer use through 3D printing and computer-assisted design.
Beyond the specific goals of our curricula, we never lose focus on recreation and entertainment. Our students benefit from our fun activities and help deliver them to the general public.
Our students and staff are in the early stages of designing and building a track for either slot cars or remote control (RC) vehicles, with the goal of establishing a client-run business open to the public. The students will use the artistic and technological skills learned in their classes to participate in designing and constructing the facility’s cars, track, and scenery. Students will also assist with developing the track’s business plan, marketing, budgeting, sales plans, as well as operation and maintenance, scheduling and staffing, and coordination of events such as birthday parties and race competitions.
