Transportation Electronics Technician Trainee - Kanawha County
The Transportation Electronic Technician Trainee in this position will serve with the Lights and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) crew. Performs beginning level electronic, telecommunication, and electrical work or assists a higher level electronics technician with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic and electrical equipment for highway illumination, traffic control, traffic signal, traffic counting, materials testing, vehicle weighing, and/or law enforcement. Procedures for performing duties are clearly established and several guidelines are accessible to the employee. Complexity involves analysis and troubleshooting of subject matter and decisions are made using the results. May be required to be on-call. Performs related work as required.
Minimum Requirements
REQUIRED TRAINING/EDUCATION
- High school diploma or the equivalent.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- One (1) year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in electronics/electrical repair or land mobile radio/microwave equipment repair.
- Substitution 1: Successful completion of an approved vocational school program in electrical/electronics of at least 1080 clock hours may be substituted for the required experience.
OR - Substitution 2: A journeyman electrician license may be substituted for the required experience.
OR - Substitution 3: Associate’s degree in electronics or electrical engineering technology from a regionally accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience.
