Requirements:

·        Licensed Masters Level School Social worker (LMSW)

·        Approved by the State Department of Education as a School Social Worker

·        Prefer one year of experience in school social worker practice in a school setting which can include a master’s level social work internship.

 

Responsibilities/Qualifications:

·        Knowledge of the requirements of state and federal mandates that directly affect school social work services and special education.

·        Provide direct services to individual students for emotional and behavioral support.

·        Lead group counseling sessions for students to enhance social development of individual members and provide support in areas such as friendship, loss, stress, transition, etc.

·        Ability to complete functional behavioral assessments and develop behavior plans.

·        Participate in problem-solving teams or assist individual teachers to consider student-specific data, brainstorm possible strategies and interventions, and develop a plan o​f action to address a student-specific need.

·        Collect and analyze data and interpret standardized test scores.

·        Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families.

·        Knowledge about best practices for engaging students and families with emotional and behavioral concerns.

·        Ability to work successfully with students of all grade levels.

·        Familiarity with tiered systems of school-wide Positive Behavior Support practices.

·        Experience with MTSS preferred.
