
Lead DOE Preschool Teacher
The Yearling Nursery School is seeking a warm and patient Teacher for our DOE UPK 2025-2026 school year. We are a small school in our 46th year servicing the Riverdale, Bronx community. The school is private, with the 3K and 4K classrooms being contracted NYC DOE classes. We offer professional guidance and professional development for teachers to expand their skillset and knowledge of early childhood development. Seeking immediate hire to start first week in September.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for fostering the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of each child, ensuring their well-being and safety at all times.
About the position:
- We follow the DOE school calendar
- Hours are M-F 8:00am-3:30pm
- Max of 12 preschool students
- Full-time assistant teacher
- Floater teachers provided to help when needed
- Professional development provided
- Room for professional growth if other positions become available
- Pay is negotiable depending on experience
Teachers will:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans for the DOE UPK Study Plan curriculum.
- Manage classroom activities and ensure a safe and nurturing environment for young learners.
- Utilize effective communication skills to interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback to support individual learning needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the educational experience and promote student development.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field ( NYS/NYC certification preferred, not required).

- Must be able to provide 3 references indicating good attendance, punctuality, and work ethic
- Must agree to be fingerprinted and have a state search evaluating clearance of criminal record
- Must be vaccinated
- Must be a warm, patient, energetic, and supportive educator who genuinely loves working with young children
- Must live close enough to the school so the commute is manageable (please make sure your UPDATED home address or zip code is on your resume)
- Our students' safety and well-being are of the utmost importance, so we will require security clearances and relevant past work recommendations provided by applicant
- MUST be available to start first week in September 2025
