Accounting/Tax Intern

The Innovative CPA Group (ICG) is a fast-growing firm in Connecticut, comprised of experienced professionals with diverse backgrounds in accounting. We approach every client project as a team, fostering a culture of empowerment, accountability, and knowledge-sharing.

We are seeking motivated Accounting/Tax Interns to join our offices in Shelton, Bethel, Hamden, Ridgefield, and Norwalk. This internship offers hands-on experience in tax preparation, exposure to other areas of accounting, and the opportunity to work alongside experienced CPAs in a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities:

• Organize, scan & validate client information for tax return preparation

• Develop a working knowledge of tax preparation processes and software

• Shadow team members on special projects to gain insight into firm operations

• Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities

• Stay informed on changes in tax laws and regulations

• Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency

• Adhere to company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and confidentiality

• Possible exposure to audit and attest services

• Participate in additional firm activities and events as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree or master’s in Accounting, Finance or Taxation

• CPA exam eligibility preferred

• Minimum GPA of 3.0 with a strong academic track record

• Relevant/prior work experience (e.g. internships, summer positions, school jobs)

• Proficiency with computers; knowledge of accounting software is a plus

• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple assignments, and work effectively in a team 

• Strong work ethic with a willingness to take on new challenges

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated leadership and problem-solving abilities
