Youth Mental Health and Program Development Intern

Position Responsibilities:

We are a London-based charity supporting vulnerable children with their emotional wellbeing. We support young people experiencing disadvantage (such as abuse, poverty or neglect) to feel adventurous, proud and resilient.

We believe that every child deserves to feel wanted, special and valued and to experience joy and adventure within their childhood. We create these experiences via a range of therapeutic adventures, mentoring programmes and countryside-based respite residentials across the year.

Position Details:

Our interns can make a concrete positive impact on the vulnerable children we support in their time working with us. Interns are placed within the Operations & Services Team, and will:

  • Help in the design, implementation and delivery of a variety of programmes to support the development of young people struggling with social and emotional difficulties because of trauma.
  • Liaise with key charity stakeholders, including but not limited to our vendors, referrers (such as schools and social workers) and parents / carers.
  • Have the opportunity to support on one of our residential projects to gain face-to-face experience working with our young people.
  • We offer the opportunity for interns to attend trips in the English Countryside supporting residentials.

On-site Supervision and Support

Our internships include 24/7 on-site staff to support students working and living abroad. All students will also report to a supervisor at their internship site. Supervisors provide and oversee daily tasks, introduce the intern to team members, and mentor the intern in organizational agility, skill acquisition, and career readiness. Interns complete a midpoint and final evaluation, and supervisors complete a final evaluation of their interns. All work responsibilities and projects are approved in advance.
