Summer 2026 Internship - Audit

The Ally Internship Program guides and mentors students with development opportunities and experiences that support your career interests while also driving the business forward. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with diverse teams and functions across the company. You will interact with Ally’s leadership and learn from their personal successes. You will gain the experience to know what it means to be an Ally.

As part of our Internship Program, you will have an opportunity to:

  • Have hands on experience and project-based work
  • Attend Orientation, Executive Speaking Series, and learning sessions as an Intern cohort
  • Participate in Group Mentoring Program and Giving Back Events
  • Network with your peers, your team, and those Allys you find interesting
  • Lead an end of assignment presentation

The Details:

  • Internship Program Timing: May 26, 2026 - August 7, 2026
  • 40 hours each week with a mix of in-office and remote working days
  • Project based work
  • Market competitive hourly compensation and a sign-on bonus, as well as financial housing assistance for those who qualify
  • Successful interns will have the opportunity to return to Ally in an Early Talent Program or full-time role, or to a second internship, depending upon graduation timing.

 

The Work Itself

Interning within Audit means being part of a team that that plays a key role in supporting Ally’s success. You’ll gain hands-on experience providing insights that help leaders make smart, strategic decisions. Our audit teams assess how well the company manages risk, governance, and internal controls, which are critical functions that keep the business running smoothly. Throughout the duration of the 11-week program, you’ll have the ability to hone your skills in risk assessment, data analysis, professional communication, and business acumen to name a few. You will also strengthen your understanding of auditing principles and business operations while building relationships with professionals across the organization. Typically, interns are matched with a specific team and manager in mid-spring. Doing so offers the ability to assign interns to real-time, business critical needs. Ally’s audit teams support major business areas and enterprise functions and include the following:

  • Auto Finance and Ally Insurance: The AFI Audit Team focuses on audits in the auto finance and insurance departments at Ally. The Auto Finance side of this department focuses heavily on the automotive lending business Ally has, Ally’s agreements with third parties in the automotive space (such as Carvana and DriveTime), and Ally’s automotive platforms (such as SmartAuction or Auto Advantage). The insurance side of this department focuses primarily on the insurance products Ally offers and helps our clients finance with their lending agreements.
     
  • CFO Group: The CFO Group audit team is responsible for auditing and ongoing monitoring of the CFO organization which includes Capital Markets, Treasury, Financial Planning, Investor Relations, Strategy & Corporate Development, Modeling & Analytics, Finance Transformation, and the Controller’s Group. In addition, this team is responsible for audits of the Market and Liquidity Independent Risk functions.  This team is also responsible for the Capital Adequacy Process (CAP) Center of Excellence (COE) within audit which includes coordinating and collaborating across the audit department to provide subject matter expertise, assistance and guidance related to CAP specific topics. This team also oversees and manages the execution of the direct assist project in coordination with Ally’s external auditors.
     
  • Legal & Corporate Affairs: The Legal and Corporate Affairs Audit Team is responsible for auditing Enterprise Compliance and Regulatory Affairs (ECRA), Legal, Government Relations, Corporate Secretary, Community Reinvestment Act and Environmental Sustainability.  In addition to performing audits and ongoing monitoring of these areas, the Legal and Corporate Affairs Audit Team is also responsible for the Compliance Center of Excellence (COE) within Audit which includes coordinating and collaborating across the audit department to provide subject matter expertise, assistance and guidance related to compliance specific topics.

     
  • Consumer Banking: The Consumer Banking team is focused on audits covering the core operations of Deposits and Ally Invest. The Consumer Banking team is also responsible for auditing functions such as Customer Care & Experience (CCE) and Marketing & Public Relations, which support each of Ally’s core businesses.

     
  • Technology: The Technology audit team focuses on two primary areas, Information Protection and Risk Management (IPRM) and Enterprise Technology Operations (ETO). These areas support the enterprise and play critical roles in establishing the infrastructure behind Ally's digital enablement and cybersecurity program. Additionally, the Technology audit team is responsible for ensuring applications supporting all of Ally's business units are configured and operating effectively to ensure systems are available and data is kept safe.

     
  • Risk: The Risk Audit Team is responsible for auditing the enterprise risk function (e.g. Risk Appetite, New Product, Risk Governance, etc.) and certain independent risk management departments of Ally (e.g. Model Risk, TPRM, etc.). The risk functions that the Risk Audit Team reviews, manages and analyzes Ally’s exposure to various risks, by establishing enterprise-wide programs and providing oversight to support adherence to those programs. The Risk Audit Team evaluates the adequacy/effectiveness of these programs including the oversight/support activities.


The Skills You Bring

Required qualifications.

  • Rising Junior or Senior (during the time of internship) in a full-time undergraduate program.
  • Major/Course of Study: Open to all majors.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates Problem-Solving, Initiative, and Learning Agility.
  • Available for the full duration of the internship program.
  • Eligible to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship from the company now or in the future.

Preferred qualifications.

  • Previous internship experience or relevant project work is preferred.
  • Extracurricular activities/leadership experience is preferred (student organizations, volunteering, sports, part-time roles, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Experience in managing deadlines and prioritizing tasks.
  • Interest in learning about business operations, risk, and internal controls.
