ELECTRICIAN
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
OPERATIONS DIVISION, MUD MOUNTAIN DAM FISH PASSAGE FACILITY

Who May Apply: US Citizens

Duties
Install, remove, maintain, adjust, troubleshoot, overhaul, modify, and test project electrical systems, equipment, controls, fixtures, and machinery.
Representative electrical systems/items include but are not limited to fire alarm systems; complete electrical systems including wiring and machinery; and shop equipment including electric hoists and motors.
Remotely controlled electro-mechanical security gate locks and controls; electric power controlling, switching and distribution systems for industrial and high security operations; and water system control panels and pump motors.
Perform maintenance services, diagnose systems or equipment malfunctions, and make necessary adjustments, repairs, or modifications.
Plan/lay out the routing and placement of electrical systems and components.
Inserts, splices, and connects wires to fixtures, outlets, switches, receptacles, motors, controls, pumps, distribution boxes, power sources, etc.
As directed, assists electrical linemen by performing groundman, truck driver, and other duties that do not require the services of a qualified lineman.
Operate a variety of motor vehicles (e.g., pickups, vans, crew trucks, aerial or bucket truck, 5-ton trucks, 1000-gallon fish trucks, etc).

Conditions of employment
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Must obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Class A commercial driver's license with N (Tanker) endorsement within 1 year of employment.
Pre-employment and annual physical is required.
Pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing is required.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) ELECTRICIAN~ without more than normal supervision. Must have the ability to perform common tasks of an Electrician such as read wiring diagrams that specify where wiring, cables, and fixtures and controls are installed. Ability to maintain and repair electrical wiring, controls, equipment and fixtures; make repairs such as tightening connections, insulating bare wire, and soldering loose leads to contact points. Ability to use a variety of test equipment such as test light, megger, voltmeter, power meter set, and other electrical meters to locate malfunctions. Have selected and used hand and power tools such as screw drivers, crimpers, wire strippers, pliers, wire cutters and soldering irons. Ability to troubleshoot problems by observation and with simple instruments, such as meggers or voltmeters where the faulty unit is an individual circuit (less than a complete system) and is easily located. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
