Content Strategist, Short-Form Video (Healthcare Reform)
CareYaya is a mission-driven startup helping advocate for a better healthcare system and helping patients fight the broken health insurance system. We’re hiring a student Content Strategist to own short-form video (TikTok/IG Reels/YouTube Shorts/LinkedIn) that educates, mobilizes, and gives people practical tools to navigate care and insurance denials. If you love storytelling with purpose and can turn complex policy into thumb-stopping clips, you’ll thrive here.
What you’ll do
Own the editorial calendar across TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and LinkedIn — from idea → script → shoot (remote UGC or on-camera) → edit → publish.
Build content pillars (e.g., patient/caregiver stories, “how to appeal” explainers, policy myth-busting, news recaps, duets/stitches).
Script & produce 20–40 sec videos with hooks, on-screen captions, and clear CTAs that drive action.
Edit fast using CapCut/Descript/Premiere; optimize for 9:16, subtitles, and accessibility.
Track performance (watch-through rate, saves, comments, click-through) and run weekly experiments/A-B tests.
Collaborate with caregivers, clinicians, and patient advocates to source stories (trauma-informed, non-exploitative).
Stay timely with a rapid reaction cadence to relevant news and policy moments.
Repurpose content into carousels, scripts, and micro-blogs; package for LinkedIn thought leadership.
You are
A strong storyteller who can distill messy policy/health topics into clear, empathetic narratives.
Fluent in short-form video: hooks, pacing, pattern interrupts, captions, and platform nuances.
On-camera comfortable (nice to have) or great at directing UGC contributors.
Data-curious and iterative — you make decisions from analytics, not vibes.
Mission-aligned with healthcare access, elder care, and patient advocacy.
A builder: proactive, resourceful, and calm under tight turnarounds.
Nice to have
Experience in journalism, public policy, public health, comms/marketing, film/media, or design.
Familiarity with healthcare reform, insurance denials, or patient advocacy communities.
Light motion graphics or After Effects; basic thumbnail/title copy chops.
Experience growing a TikTok/IG/YouTube channel.
What you’ll learn/impact
Hands-on experience shaping a national conversation on care, aging, and insurance reform.
How to operationalize content strategy (pacing, cadences, experiments, and swimlanes).
Portfolio-ready case studies with measurable outcomes and cross-platform reach.
Mentorship from founders and policy/clinical advisors; opportunities to interface with media partners.
Sample content themes you might ship
“30 seconds to appeal a denial” — step-by-step, human voiceover + captions + CTA.
“Insurance myth vs. reality” — stitch/duet format responding to viral claims.
“From the caregiver’s living room” — UGC mini-diaries (consent-driven, anonymized when needed).
“News explained” — what a new rule or lawsuit means, without jargon, and what to do next.
