Job Description

Administrative Professional 4 Position Overview

Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD) is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and professional Administrative Professional 4 to provide high-level administrative support to our Northeast Area Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR) and Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI) management team. This important role plays a key part in supporting OOD's mission to enhance the lives of Ohioans with disabilities through employment, disability-determination, and independence. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, resourceful, and capable of handling a wide range of administrative and executive support-related tasks with discretion and confidentiality.

As an Administrative Professional 4, you will provide administrative and secretarial support to the Area Manager, Deputy Directors, and others in leadership roles. Your responsibilities will include conducting research, analyzing information, and preparing reports and correspondence related to the Vocational Rehabilitation program. You will communicate decisions, directives, and assignments to staff, ensuring efficient office operations. Additionally, you will manage the facility operations and business functions of the area office, including budget preparation, monitoring expenditures, ordering supplies, and Records Coordinator duties such as maintaining fiscal records.

You will handle inquiries from the general public, employees, and external stakeholders, providing information about the agency's services and programs. Your strong communication skills and attention to detail will be valuable in preparing reports, memorandums, and official responses.

To succeed in this position, you should possess knowledge of office management, practices, and procedures. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to handle sensitive inquiries, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general office equipment are crucial.

Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation Division Overview

OOD’s Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation (BVR) and Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI) provide vocational rehabilitation (VR) services to eligible individuals with disabilities to assist them to attain and maintain competitive integrated employment. OOD works with adults seeking to enter the workforce or retain a job, and with youth beginning at age 14 to assist them as they transition from high school into college and/or the workplace. Pay Information

Starting salary will be step 1, subject to law or union contract requirements.  New hires advance to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter.  There are cost of living increases to these rates each year and additional longevity supplements begin after 5 years. 


Location Requirements

We are increasing our in-office presence to 5 days per week across all OOD locations as space permits.  The transition timeline for each office is being determined and more information will be provided by the supervisor before the start date.  Employees must reside at a location that allows for reasonable response time to workplace reporting requirements.

Daytime travel within Ohio may be required. The selected candidate must provide own transportation or, in order to operate a state vehicle, must have a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

30 months experience or 30 months training in secretarial/administrative professional field. 

-OR completion of associate core coursework in secretarial science or business office applications from accredited career school or community college AND 12 months experience in secretarial/administrative professional field.

-OR 12 months experience as Administrative Professional 2,16872. 

-OR equivalent of education and/or experience per Minimum Class Qualifications noted above.
