Hiring Rates:
Level I - $50,793.60

Job Description

This position is located in the Air Quality Division - Infrastructure Management & Program Services in Oklahoma City.

Basic Purpose

Primary responsibility of this position will be to provide advanced technical support for staff and external users of web applications and other data systems of the Air Quality Division.  Routine duties will include data management and application stewardship, providing internal and external customer support for data system interfaces, liaising with extra-divisional personnel, and data extraction and report preparation.  Duties require that the employee be able to work independently and work in a team setting.  Additional responsibilities may include participation in special purpose workgroups, and drafting of procedural, descriptive, and analytical documents.

 

This position will report to the Environmental Program Manager of the Infrastructure Management and Program Services (IMPS) Section of the Air Quality Division and will be based in the Oklahoma City central office.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Typical Functions

Receive training on and become familiar with Air Quality Division (AQD) and Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) business rules and processes, databases, applications, and content management systems, generally, to provide data management and technical support for AQD programs.

Provide advanced technical support for internal and external users who use web applications and other data systems of the AQD and DEQ.  This will include but is not limited to user management and application stewardship.

Query and mine data from agency systems to contribute to problem solving initiatives.  This may include but is not limited to querying data with various programming languages (SQL, R, Python, etc.) or tools (e.g., GIS), interpreting data, and producing analyses in support of continuous process improvement and agency goals.

Perform functional, regression, user interface, and unit testing for all new features in agency applications using multiple web browsers and devices.  Coordinate and test new applications, databases, or systems’ operations using written test plans.  Produce test reports for and communicate with colleagues, vendors, and contractors.

Maintain system documentation and user guides.

Participate in meetings, workgroups, and other activities in support of AQD data systems and their integration with DEQ and US EPA.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Education and Experience

Level I - bachelor’s degree with at least 24 semester hours in a physical, natural, or biological science, chemistry, geology, hydrology, physical geography, epidemiology, environmental science, environmental health or civil, agricultural, environmental, geological or chemical engineering.

Level II - those identified in level I plus one (1) year of professional experience in one of the areas listed; or a master’s degree in a qualifying area.

 

To be considered for this position applicants must be within 60 days of obtaining their degree.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Physical Requirements

Must be capable of working at a computer for extended periods.

Must have a clear and understandable speaking voice.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Travel Requirements

Must have a valid driver's license.

Rarely, out of state overnight travel for training may be necessary to attend a workshop or conference.

Must be able to attend training courses outside of DEQ if necessary.

Must be able to engage customers to obtain information regarding problems and user requests, using email, chat, and telephone, and respond to customer requests for assistance with agency web applications.
