Community Engagement and Planning Intern – Summer 2026

This opportunity entails being under close supervision, assist departments by performing basic assignments in the areas including, but not limited to Science, Planning, Technology.  This position is usually on a part-time, temporary, or co-op basis.

Environmental Planning tasks could include providing support for environmental permitting, wetland delineation, and construction monitoring assignments. 

Community Engagement tasks could include assisting with outreach efforts, staffing meetings, distributing flyers and content at in-person events, preparing reports, data entry, and other support tasks.

Planning tasks could include production and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications for assigned projects.

Our Boston, MA office is seeking an rotational intern opportunity within Community Engagement, Environmental Planning, and Transportation Planning for Summer 2026.

 

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Assists project team members with various support tasks.
  • Conducts basic research and data collection.
  • Maintains records, collections and files related to specific projects.
  • Assist in the development of graphics, presentation materials and reports.
  • Performs other duties assigned.

 

What You’ll Need:

  • Enrolled in a related undergraduate or graduate program

 

 

What We Prefer:

  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Exhibits an understanding of planning and engineering principles relevant to the discipline
  • Attains knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Training and/or experience with GIS mapping and data analysis
  • Willingness to perform in-person or field work
  • Works well in a team setting
  • Strong interest in transportation and infrastructure
