Business Development Director

Hybrid: Malvern, PA or East Windsor, NJ

Reports to: Vice President, Sales

Compensation: Base salary + commission

Position Summary

We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Business Development Director to expand the reach and impact of its Market Access Research Intelligence Network (MARIN): https://www.marinintel.com/

 

This individual will drive revenue growth by identifying, cultivating, and closing new business opportunities across life sciences organizations, especially within market access, managed markets, and commercial strategy functions. The role requires a sophisticated understanding of pharmaceutical distribution, payer engagement, and healthcare market dynamics.
 

MARIN is an oncology-focused intelligence platform formerly known as HMP Market Access Insights. MARIN offers:

  • Curated access datasets
  • National and regional payer insights
  • Market access landscape reports
  • Strategy-aligned advisory and training tools

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a business development strategy across assigned Market Access Intelligence products and solutions.
  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities with pharma, biotech, and payer/IDN organizations.
  • Present compelling solution-based pitches aligned to customer challenges in market access, brand planning, training, and strategy.
  • Manage full-cycle B2B sales including prospecting, proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
  • Build relationships with cross-functional teams including commercial leadership, market research, HEOR, and learning & development.
  • Maintain an expert-level understanding of HMP Global’s offerings, market access trends, and competitor activity.
  • Collaborate with marketing and content teams to refine positioning and outreach efforts.
  • Accurately track pipeline activity and forecast revenue in CRM platforms (e.g., HubSpot or Salesforce).
  • Represent the company at key industry events and client meetings.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, account management, or consultative sales within life sciences, market access, or healthcare intelligence.
  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical market access and drug distribution (e.g., gross-to-net, payer models, PBM dynamics, specialty pharmacy).
  • Proven track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets in a complex B2B environment.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and consultative selling skills.
  • Comfort working with senior stakeholders including VP/C-suite decision-makers.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with CRM tools (HubSpot, Salesforce) and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Travel required (1–2 times per month).
