Position Overview:

As a Core Neutronics Intern, you will work with our engineers and designers to create and analyze nuclear reactor systems by developing analytical models and conducting performance assessments.

 

Location:

The position will be located in Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office.

 

Your Day to Day as a Core Neutronics Intern:

  • Collaborate with experienced engineers and designers to develop analytical models for nuclear reactor neutronics or thermal performance analysis and assess their operating characteristics using state-of-the-art analysis software.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to make design tradeoffs and decisions relating to neutronics or thermal performance of a terrestrial or space based nuclear reactor system. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student, pursuing a degree in nuclear engineering. 
  • Must have a strong interest in nuclear engineering.
  • Must have taken introductory engineering classes, including thermodynamics, fluid flow, and nuclear engineering courses, including neutronics.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with nuclear analysis tools (MCNP, SCALE, MOOSE or other) is a plus.
