Internal Audit Intern

This is a paid internship; however, the intern must provide their own housing and transportation. Business related transportation and expenses will be paid by the organization. This intern will work full-time through the summer of 2026. The internship is located out of either our Bloomington, IL or Sun Prairie, WI office locations

The contributions you will make: 

This internship will provide hands-on experience in the internal audit field with a focus on data analytics. Ideal for juniors or non-graduating seniors in college. The intern will learn how to conduct internal audits, analyze data, and ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards.

A typical day: 

  • Engage in a dynamic learning environment, acquiring substantial knowledge throughout the internship and proactively applying this information.
  • Work independently with general supervision on day-to-day operations. Demonstrate initiative and fulfill assigned responsibilities.
  • Collaborate closely with the Internal Audit Director, Principal Audit Practices, and other team members, as well as interact with various departments such as finance, operations, and compliance.
  • Assist in providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis to improve internal processes.
  • Present a professional image of Compeer Financial.

The skills and experience we prefer you have: 

  • Must be working towards completing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, technology or a related field, with at least two years completed preferred.
  • Interest in and knowledge of internal auditing and data analytics.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and deliver excellent client service.
  • Coursework or experience in data analytics, auditing, or financial analysis preferred.
  • Proficiency in using PowerBI, Microsoft Excel or other data analytics tools preferred.
