Summer 2026 - Projects & Construction Internship - Civil Engineering
Job Summary
PSEG is looking for a Civil Engineering Intern for the Engineering Department in Projects and Construction.
This job involves working as an engineer in the Projects and Construction team, utilizing a broad knowledge of business and engineering principles and practices acquired through previous coursework, experience, and on the job training.
This position will be Hybrid Fixed. Primary reporting location will be South Plainfield, but additional reporting locations may vary depending on work group assignment. Locations may include Somerset, Lawrenceville, Secaucus, Moorestown, Clifton, Newark or anywhere in our service territory.
Job Responsibilities
Assignments will include working alongside professionals in the following areas:
- Project Engineering - Assist in reviewing civil calculations and drawings, procuring engineering services and materials, while communicating between project and design teams.
- Inside Plant Civil Construction - Assist in preparing scopes of work to solicits bids from contractors, oversee bid awards and construction. Possible oversight of work includes excavation, foundation installation, demolition, etc.
- Civil Design - Assist in analyzing equipment and environmental loads, preparing drawings and calculations for foundations and steel supports.
Job Specific Qualifications
Required education/skills: The successful candidate(s) must be actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited institution in Civil Engineering and graduating between December 2026 and May 2029. Students graduating in May/June 2026 are not eligible unless they are enrolling in a post-graduate degree program in the fall term of 2026. PSEG recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. Candidates must have completed sophomore level course work for consideration.
Because this position will require traveling to various PSEG locations, a valid driver's license and a safe driving record is required.
Preferred:
- 3.0 GPA
- Familiarity with design, drafting or engineering software such as AutoCAD
- Desire to pursue a career in the energy industry (interest or concentration in Geotechnical or Structural)
- Demonstrate initiative, strong planning, organization, and team building skills
- Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills

All PSEG internship roles are paid at an hourly rate; however, there are no medical benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the duration of the summer internship. We are targeting currently enrolled/matriculating students that are able to commute to their designated work location as needed. Housing, transportation, and immigration support will not be provided in association with these positions.
