Summer 2026 - Projects & Construction Internship - Project Controls Engineering

Job Summary

PSEG is looking for a Project Controls Engineering Intern for the Project Management Department in Projects and Construction.

This job involves working as an engineer in the Projects and Construction team, utilizing a broad knowledge of business and engineering principles and practices acquired through previous coursework, experience, and on the job training.

This position will be Hybrid Fixed. Primary reporting location will be South Plainfield, but additional reporting locations may vary depending on work group assignment. Locations may include Somerset, Lawrenceville, Secaucus, Moorestown, Clifton, Newark or anywhere in our service territory.

Job Responsibilities

Assignments will include working alongside professionals in the following areas:
•    Project Budgeting & Scheduling – Develop, coordinate, and maintain status & variance reporting and executive dashboards for the financial aspects and schedules for projects.
•    Financial reporting – Support regulatory reporting and financial reconciliation for portfolio programs. Coordinate with cross functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to complete project analyses by required dates. 
•    Project Management – Support data-informed decision-making for project management stakeholders and translating. Develop and execute QA/QC processes to validate project portfolio reporting and work to rectify issues.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required education/skills: The successful candidate(s) must be actively pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited institution in Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Data Science, Finance, or Business discipline and graduating between December 2026 and May 2029. Students graduating in May/June 2026 are not eligible unless they are enrolling in a post-graduate degree program in the fall term of 2026. PSEG recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. Candidates must have completed sophomore level course work for consideration. 

Because this position will require traveling to various PSEG locations, a valid driver's license and a safe driving record is required.

Preferred: 

•    3.0 GPA
•    Familiarity with SAP project systems reporting, Power BI, financial data reconciliation and QA/QC analysis, data analytics and visualization; variance analysis and reporting, cost accounting and performance reporting
•    Demonstrate strong working knowledge using Integrated Data Management Tools such as, MS Excel and MS Word, PowerPoint
•    Desire to pursue a career in the energy industry (interest or concentration in business or finance)
•    Demonstrate initiative, strong planning, organization, and team building skills
•    Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills

All PSEG internship roles are paid at an hourly rate; however, there are no medical benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the duration of the summer internship. We are targeting currently enrolled/matriculating students that are able to commute to their designated work location as needed. Housing, transportation, and immigration support will not be provided in association with these positions.
