Medical Assistant

The Vein Healthcare Center in South Portland seeks a detail oriented full-time medical assistant to work with patients at our expanding private medical practice. The practice is led by Dr. Cindy Asbjornsen and is dedicated to helping people with vein disease. Medical assistants who work 30 hours or more qualify for fulltime benefits.

This position is ideal for a candidate that is looking to pursue medical school or further education but wants to be gaining valuable experience in the medical field for the time being. Dr. Asbjornsen takes pride in being a stepping stone for young medical professionals looking to advance their careers and enjoys fostering an environment that promotes learning.

Medical assistants are the crucial backbone of our practice, providing a vital link between our patients and the healthcare providers. As a medical assistant at the Vein Healthcare Center, you can expect to always be challenged at work, never be bored, and make a meaningful contribution to our patient’s wellbeing. It’s also an opportunity to contribute and support physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other medical professionals as part of a larger healthcare team.

As a medical assistant, you’ll often be the first point of contact for many patients, the first face they see when they come in and the last they see when they leave. Part of your responsibilities as a medical assistant will be to help to keep patients feeling at ease in healthcare situations that they might find stressful.

The ideal candidate can work with multiple lists, manage time well, and bring a strong work ethic to our team. Primary responsibilities include rooming patients, assisting with procedures, cleaning/stocking exam rooms, and general administrative support.

Other responsibilities include wound dressing changes, documenting patient’s medical information, and educating patients about compression stocking therapy and self-administered injections. Additionally, the medical assistant must be able to demonstrate compassion with patients, understand insurance referrals and prior authorizations, and always be willing to step up and help where needed. Prior medical experience is preferred, however we would consider a highly motivated individual without any healthcare experience.

We provide care for our patients in a new state of the art medical facility that offers natural opportunities for social distancing as well as a modern HVAC air system designed to purify and exchange the air often to help reduce the spread of COVID.

Applicants can email their resume directly to Bethany Dymond Practice Manager, at work@veinhealthcarecenter.com. Please also include a cover letter that highlights your goals and explains your interest in working in Maine.
