IS Business Automation
The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA), Division of Enterprise Services, has two openings for IS Business Automation Senior or Specialist level positions (IT Business Analysts) to serve as part of the team in the Bureau of Information Services’ Application Development Unit.
These positions may be headquartered in either Madison, King, or Union Grove, WI. The Madison headquarter location is the Wisconsin Revenue Building. The King and Union Grove headquarter locations are the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King and the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove. These positions work under a flexible hybrid work schedule that allows for up to 90% remote work.

Position Summary
This announcement is for multiple IS Business Automation (IT Business Analyst) positions at the Senior and Specialist levels. Position descriptions for both levels are below:
Senior
At the senior level, the position will test, support, and maintain intranet and public-facing web applications based on business requirements. As a business analyst, you will meet with clients to scope and document business requirements, review, test, and maintain / troubleshoot developed applications. While working closely with the development team members, you will identify and document problems, and find resolutions, while also performing quality assurance testing of new processes and applications. This position is also our SME (subject matter expert) in maintaining our SharePoint intranet environment.

Specialist
At the specialist level, duties of the position will include requirements gathering, analyzing business needs, planning, development support, implementation, and maintenance of our applications. You will also be our SME in maintaining our SharePoint intranet and document management system. As a business analyst you will perform quality assurance testing, working closely with our development team members and clients. You will create and maintain detailed technical, training and supporting documentation. As a business analyst, you will be experienced in identifying problems and finding resolutions between our development team and clients in various bureaus or divisions.

In these roles, you will also be expected to:
- Perform business analyst activities associated with IT projects.
- Use various methods to capture and document business requirements through interviews and meetings with subject matter experts.
- Collaborate with a wide range of business areas, stakeholders, IT staff, and third-party software vendors to support initiatives and increase efficiencies, crossing multiple technical environments.
- Provide excellent customer service, analysis, and technical support services.
- Maintain our SharePoint intranet environment as our SME.
- Perform quality assurance testing of applications.
- Provide detailed technical documentation for many applications, while maintaining our document management system.
Salary Information
The starting salary for IS Business Automation Senior is between $38.75 - $40.75 an hour ($80,600 - $84,760 annually). The senior level classification is in pay schedule and range 07-34.
The starting salary for IS Business Automation Specialist is between $47.50 - $49.50 an hour ($98,800 - $102,960 annually). The specialist level classification is in pay schedule and range 07-33.
Salaries are dependent on candidate qualifications. Compensation for current State employees may vary and will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
Job Details
This position is eligible to work remotely. Remote work is intended to be performed primarily in the State of Wisconsin. High speed internet access is a requirement of remote work. Remote work options are subject to change based on business needs.
Due to the nature of this position’s duties, candidates will be subject to a criminal background check prior to appointment.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of application. Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:
- Performing business and systems analysis including capturing requirements, user story development and creating scope and technical documents; and
- Maintaining and creating content in a SharePoint environment; and
- Performing quality assurance testing of applications; and
- Providing customer service and technical support of developed applications; and
- Using at least one development project management tool (Monday, Click-Up, etc.); and
- Using more than one of the following project methodologies (Waterfall, Scrum, Agile and/or Kanban)
Well qualified applicants will also have experience:
- Administering SharePoint and SharePoint Online to include the MS Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, MS Forms); or
- Coordinating quality assurance testing (e.g., writing test plans and scenarios, testing data, system/functional testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing, analyzing test results, etc.); or
- Maintaining and coordinating a document management system in Global Search or a similar system.
