Communications Intern

Social Media & Communications Intern
Part-time | 20 hours a month - Flexible | Remote | The EdVenture Group

About The EdVenture Group
The EdVenture Group is a nonprofit organization that partners with schools, communities, and families to strengthen education and student success. We are seeking a creative and motivated Social Media & Communications Intern to support our outreach efforts. This is a great opportunity for undergrad or graduate student looking to build hands-on experience in social media, marketing, and nonprofit communications.

 

Key Responsibilities

Social Media Support

  • Assist in creating, curating, and scheduling engaging content across The EdVenture Group’s social media channels (Facebook and LinkedIn).
  • Collaborate on a content calendar to ensure consistent posting.
  • Design simple templates and graphics for social media using Canva.
  • Draft, proofread, and edit posts to align with organizational voice and style.

 

Website & Digital Content

  • Support minor website updates, such as updating event information, posting blogs, and maintaining accuracy of content.
  • Assist in drafting blog posts, articles, and newsletters.
  • Proofread and edit written content for clarity, grammar, and accessibility.

 

External Communications

  • Contribute ideas for newsletters, press releases, and announcements.
  • Assist in drafting and distributing the monthly newsletter.
  • Support email campaigns and other outreach efforts.

 

Qualifications

  • Current undergrad or graduate student interested in communications, marketing, public relations, social work, community outreach, family engagement, education, or related fields.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Familiarity with Facebook and LinkedIn. *WordPress is a plus!
  • Basic graphic design skills (Canva or similar tools).
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Interest in education, nonprofits, or community engagement is a plus.

 

Details

  • Internship is part-time (10–20 hours/week) with flexible scheduling.
  • This position is fully remote, with collaboration via Microsoft Teams.
  • Opportunity for occasional in-person check-ins at Marshall University.
  • This position reports to Kylee Hassan, Program Coordinator.
