This internship will be hybrid, and students must be located near our Hartford, CT office for the summer.
The Role
The Investment Analytics Intern supports the firm’s insurance client relationships, client solutions, and performance teams. A successful intern will utilize mathematical and creative skills to provide a variety of analyses that are required by our insurance company clients, including, but not limited to: applying actuarial-based concepts of insurance in financial models/asset allocations, determining the drivers of portfolio investment performance or assisting a client with developing and maintaining their long-term strategic investment goals. The ideal candidate has a balance of strong quantitative and communication skills, as well as enthusiasm for independent thinking and the ability to excel under general supervision.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Asset/liability management
Income and tax forecasting
Quantitative investment analytics
Chart and table composition for marketing and client presentations
Analysis and creation of reports from financial statement databases
Performance measurement and attribution analytics
Other duties as assigned
Core skill sets needed for this role:
You have strong quantitative analytical abilities
You are experienced with the Microsoft Office suite of products
You possess excellent written and oral communication skills
You pay attention to the details
You want to seek a career in asset management
You have considered pursuing CFA and/or actuarial designation
The Candidate
To be eligible for an internship at Sun Life, you must meet the following requirements:
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university during the time of internship (June 2026 – August 2026)
Must be an undergraduate or graduate student in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or other related technical fields
Eligible to legally work in the United States
Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) during Intern session
