2026 Summer Intern, Energy Analyst

Join our team as a 2026 Summer Intern to support our growing portfolio of work with utility companies. You will be learning and helping to deliver a holistic strategy to focus on external benchmarking and competitive analysis to evaluate and compare performance of utility programs to help drive strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
This is an entry-level, 10-week, full time internship that begins in early June 2026. The work may be fully remote from any U.S. location or hybrid from an ICF office depending on individual's location. Pay is expected to be $23 per hour. At this time, we are unable to provide relocation nor housing assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct competitive analysis of utility programs across the industry, focusing on cost efficiency, performance, and participation metrics.
- Determine what program types/designs are meeting and/or surpassing performance indicators ($/kWh, total/kWh, participant levels, goal achievement percentages, etc.).
- Research industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to identify areas for improvement and innovation around program design, delivery, and performance metrics.
- Work with teams to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting processes.
- Develop dashboards, reports, visualizations tools to communicate insights.
Basic Qualifications
- By start date, a minimum of 30 completed college-level credit hours is required preferably energy or environment, business, economics, engineering or related subject.
- Must be able to pass any required background check(s), which may include drug screening.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
- Knowledge of or interest in the utility and energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed energy resource programs and markets.
- Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information.
- Proficiency in Business Applications (such as Google, MS Office, Visualizations, Data Analytics, PowerBI).
- Strong analytics skills and experience working with large datasets.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to translate data insights into actionable recommendations.
