RECRUITMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

 

JOB TITLE:                   Information Technology Logistics Assistant

 

WORK YEAR:               Full time: 7.5 hours per day/Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm/12 months/260 days annually (Prorated upon hire)

                                                                        

START DATE:               As soon as possible after interview

            

SALARY:                      Salary Schedule 6a, Range 22, $27.37 - $40.42 per hour. Placement is dependent on experience. Annual stipend pay: Associate’s $250, Bachelor’s $400, Master's $750, or Doctorate $1,250 (Prorated upon hire)

 

BENEFITS:                   Generous benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision for employee and dependents. Vacation and sick leave accrued. 16 paid holidays annually. $50,000 of employer-paid life insurance. This position qualifies for CalPERS retirement. The employee contribution rate for CalPERS is either 7% or 8% of monthly earnings depending on the membership date. This position also contributes to Social Security. The contribution rate for Social Security is 6.2% of monthly earnings.

DEFINITION:

Under the direction of the assigned Cyber Security & Integrations Manager or designee, the Information Technology Logistics Assistant supports the management, tracking, and organization of technology assets. This role focuses on inventory control, storeroom organization, equipment deployment and disposal, mobile device management, and basic help desk support. The position ensures accurate recordkeeping, compliance with asset policies, and contributes to the efficient daily operation of technology services.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES [May include, but not limited to the following]:

  1. Provide first-line help desk support to identify, document, and route end-user requests related to computer hardware, networking, and software issues
  2. Assign appropriate personnel for repairs or maintenance as needed 
  3. Assist with scheduling and tracking work orders in accordance with established policies and procedures
  4. Maintain accurate, up-to-date inventory records for all technology assets, including computers, mobile devices, peripherals, and accessories
  5. Tag, label, and document new equipment upon receipt, verifying against purchase orders and entering into asset management systems 
  6. Assist with device provisioning tasks such as imaging and initial configuration to prepare equipment for deployment
  7. Track assignment, location, and status throughout the asset lifecycle, and reconcile records when items are moved, repaired, retired, or disposed of
  8. Coordinate the full equipment disposal process, including submitting requests, managing approvals and pickups, and ensuring secure data wiping or destruction in line with policy
  9. Organize and maintain storerooms so that equipment, parts, and supplies are properly labeled, secured, and easy to locate
  10. Receive, inspect, and verify incoming technology equipment and supplies for accuracy and condition; document deliveries and assist with processing purchase orders and requesting vendor quotes for hardware, software, and related services
  11. Use Mobile Device Management (MDM) tools to enroll, configure, monitor, and update mobile devices; track assignments and returns accurately
  12. Respond to and document basic help desk requests, including password resets, account unlocks, and standard user access tasks
  13. Provide first-line support for minor hardware, software, and connectivity issues; escalate more complex issues as needed
  14. Assist users with basic setup and configuration of desktop computers, laptops, or mobile devices according to guidelines
  15. Respond to user inquiries related to approved software applications, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and other standard productivity tools 
  16. Provide clear, step-by-step guidance or basic training to help users navigate common tasks or resolve routine usage issues
  17. Log all help desk interactions, support activities, and resolution details accurately and promptly in the designated ticketing or tracking system, ensuring clear documentation for follow-up, escalation, and reporting purposes
  18. Maintain updated inventory records on all software and technology equipment
  19. Assist with imaging and initial setup of new devices using standardized configurations and deployment procedures to ensure devices are ready for use prior to distribution
  20. Coordinate with site contacts or department leads to schedule equipment deliveries, pickups, or surplus returns, ensuring minimal disruption to operations

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

  1. Inventory and asset management systems, including how they are used to track equipment lifecycle, location, and condition
  2. Technology disposal procedures, secure data destruction methods, and compliance with Butte County Office of Education (BCOE) disposal policy requirements 
  3. Mobile Device Management(MDM) tools and practices, including enrollment, assignment tracking, configuration, and updates
  4. Organization of technology storerooms and supplies, including labeling, shelving, security, and efficient layout principles
  5. Basic procurement processes, including requesting quotes, processing purchase orders, and receiving shipments
  6. General functions and basic configuration of end-user devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and related peripherals
  7. Standard software used in educational and administrative environments, including Microsoft Office, productivity applications, student information systems, and financial systems
  8. BCOE’s technology procedures, including standardized workflows, escalation processes, and equipment lifecycle protocols

Ability to:

  1. Communicate clearly, courteously, and effectively with staff, students, vendors, and colleagues both orally and in writing 
  2. Accurately document asset transactions, help desk tickets, supply orders, and disposal activities using assigned tools and systems
  3. Prioritize tasks and meet time-sensitive deadlines, particularly those related to inventory reporting, equipment distribution, and compliance documentation 
  4. Work independently or as part of a team to complete assignments efficiently, with strong attention to detail and adherence to policy 
  5. Lift and move technology equipment safely (up to 40 lbs.) and perform physical tasks associated with storeroom and delivery work 
  6. Maintain confidentiality and ensure proper handling of sensitive data during disposal, imaging, and reassignment of equipment 
  7. Learn and apply new procedures and technologies as needed to support IT operations effectively
  8. Maintain flexibility, attention to detail, and excellent customer service skills
  9. Travel to various sites to support technology operations, which may occasionally require overnight stays based on project or service needs

 

Education and Experience:

  1. Preferred certifications: Comp TIA A+ or Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician
  2. Experience in helpdesk and application installations, operations, and troubleshooting
  3. Two years of directly related experience, including installing and supporting end-user devices and peripherals, managing helpdesk and inventory applications
  4. Prior Mobile Device Management (MDM) experience managing smart devices and troubleshooting
