Coordinator of Student Engagement and Leadership

 

Title: Coordinator of Student Engagement and Leadership
Reports To: Vice President for Student Services
Salary: $40,000-$42,000/year. Non-classified, Exempt.

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Vice President for Student Services and serving as a member of Division of Student Services Leadership Team, the Coordinator of Student Engagement and Leadership is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing a comprehensive program of student activities, leadership development, and engagement opportunities designed to enhance the student experience and promote student success. This position fosters an inclusive and vibrant campus community by coordinating student events, supporting student organizations, and providing leadership training and resources for students and advisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, schedule, coordinate, supervise, and assist with a variety of educational, recreational, social, and cultural student engagement events both on and off campus (e.g., Welcome Back Week, Family Night, Student Leadership Banquet, Monty Fest, Alternative Spring Break, etc.).
  • Support student clubs and organizations, as well as their faculty/staff sponsors, in planning and executing campus and community activities.
  • Provide resources, training, and guidance for new and current club advisors to ensure institutional and state policies and procedures are followed.
  • Design, implement, and assess leadership development programs for student employees, student leaders, and the general student body.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise the preparation and dissemination of publications and promotional materials related to student organizations and campus activities.
  • Collaborate with campus departments and faculty to market student involvement opportunities, events, and activities to strengthen retention and student success.
  • Facilitate trainings and workshops for student organizations to enhance leadership, teamwork, and organizational management skills.
  • Monitor student organization activity requests, meeting requests, and event proposals.
  • Manage and maintain the student engagement calendar, website, and digital platforms to ensure accurate and timely communication of student activities.
  • Coordinate a variety of health and wellness programs that support student wellbeing.
  • Assess student needs, track participation, and evaluate the effectiveness of programs, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Serve as a resource for students seeking involvement and leadership opportunities 
  • Provide guidance and work closely with the Student Body President
  • Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal policies regarding student organizations, travel, and campus events.
  • Maintain budget oversight for student engagement and leadership programming.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field preferred.
  • Two or more years of professional experience in student affairs, campus activities, leadership development, or related area preferred.
  • Experience advising student organizations and planning campus events strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and event planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and community partners.
  • Knowledge of student development theory and best practices in student engagement and retention.
  • Proficiency in technology and digital communication tools (Microsoft Office, event management software, social media platforms, etc.).
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for student events and programs.
