Mechanical Engineering Intern
Mead & Hunt, Inc., a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has a position available for a temporary, full-time engineering intern to join our Food & Beverage group starting in May/June 2026 and ending in August/September 2026.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting engineers with mechanical design for large-scale food and beverage facilities
- Performing design calculations; developing engineering design tools
- Assisting with project report preparation
- Performing field inspections
- Additional duties as assigned
Some travel to job sites may be required.
The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:
- Four semesters of college-level coursework in mechanical engineering
- Mechanical design coursework in thermodynamics, refrigeration, and/or HVAC
- Experience in the design or construction industry
- Experience with HVAC load fundamentals
- Experience with Microsoft Office software
Physical Abilities:
- Capacity to work long hours on foot, often in outdoor environments with varying weather conditions
- Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. Must be able to ascend & descend a 30’ OSHA fixed ladder
- Good eyesight for inspecting equipment and ensuring safety compliance
- Ability to discern and react to auditory cues in a noisy construction environment
- Must be able to speak & write fluent English
- Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to multiple food ingredients
