Illustration or Graphic Design Intern
SciQuel is a new and growing non-profit science media organization. We are scientists and journalists who create original content (articles, podcasts, and videos) meant for a non-technical audience, and we are passionate about making science understandable for the general public through the lens of scientists.
Illustrators and graphic designers who work with us will partner and collaborate with our team to create scientific illustrations that accompany our articles. Depending on your interests, you can also shape the design, interactive features, and visual identity of our website. Want to create scientific illustrations and help explain science to the world? Want to work on a real-world project with real-world impact? Want to contribute to society while gaining new skills? This is your chance. No science background necessary!
Supervision will consist of a weekly Zoom meeting, as well as regular email and Slack communication.
We are a non-profit organization fully composed of volunteers, so do not offer paid internships at this moment. But, we strongly believe in our mission to inspire people to think about science and really make a difference. Our goal with this internship is to 1) benefit society by making scientific knowledge freely accessible and 2) provide a training opportunity for illustrators and graphic designers who want to collaborate with scientists and work collaboratively in a creative process. We are flexible and we want you to work on something that matters to you, so feel free to contact us to discuss specific projects!
If you are interested in helping out, learning more, or just connecting with a community of like-minded people, reach out! We are willing to work with students and faculty advisors to structure a for-credit internship. We're also willing to help students apply for internship funding from your university or other sources.
