About the Position:

Under the supervision of the Branch Chief of the Office of Commercial Vehicle Operations (CVO), a Senior Transportation Engineer (Supervisor), the incumbent, a Transportation Engineering Technician, serves as the Permit Vehicle Inspector in the Transportation Permits Policies and Compliance Branch. The incumbent coordinates with the heavy haul industry for the virtual inspection of an extralegal vehicle for the Transportation Permit Program. The incumbent ensures that all of the vehicle information is compliant with Caltrans transportation permits policies and procedures, and assigns the maximum allowed weights based on axle width, axle spacing, suspension type, or tire size before issuing a final inspection report to the customer.
