Gap Year Medical Assistant

Job Title: Gap Year Medical assistant, Full Time

Description

Dermatology office medical assistant. Assists in performing various clinical, front-desk, and back-office duties within the practice. The job is open to new graduates who may not have prior experience. Full time employment is at least 32 hours a week. Most employees are scheduled to achieve at least 36-40 hours / week. Staff may be scheduled to work in secondary office in Needham, MA on a limited basis.

Essential Dermatology, PLLC is a 6-year old dermatology practice in Natick, MA. The mission of Essential Dermatology is to provide the highest level of evidence-based, patient-centered, empathic and cost-effective dermatological care. Specializing in general and aesthetic dermatology, the practice is led by an experienced board-certified dermatologist, Dr. Michael Krathen. Staff also supports our physician assistant and Mohs surgeon. We are committed to the highest level of dermatology care, driven by our dedication to joyful, compassionate and expert medical care.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities will be varied and may include (but not limited to) the following:

  • Support MDs/PA in patient care, directly and indirectly
  • Room patients; medication reconciliation, allergy review and identify patient’s chief concern
  • Anticipate patient and physician needs for efficient visit
  • Cross-cover front desk receptionist
  • Triage patient phone calls and messages
  • Vendor interactions (ordering supplies, shipments, tracking)
  • Appointment scheduling
  • Product sales (cosmeceuticals)
  • Any necessary task to enhance patient care experience and/or support the physician and practice

Qualifications

  • High-School graduate / equivalent required
  • Prior Dermatology (or other medical) Practice experience preferred
  • Competency with computers and Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Prior medical office experience (1 year) preferred
  • Professional demeanor and detail-oriented
  • High energy, positive & outgoing personality
  • Self-starter with good anticipatory skills
  • Excellent inter-personal & communication skills

Compensation based on experience
