Underwriting Intern, Summer 2026

 

Location: Atlanta, GA. This role requires associates to work from the posted locations full-time, enabling consistent face-to-face collaboration, teamwork, and direct engagement. The ​Underwriting Intern​ will be responsible for supporting and working on a variety of underwriting projects and tasks. Underwriting Interns will also receive an orientation to the company and the health benefits industry while being exposed to the impact and role of underwriting at Elevance Health.

 

This full-time, 12-week internship (May 18th, 2026 – August 7th, 2026) program is an opportunity to be included key deliverables and showcase your critical thinking skills while gaining experience and working knowledge of underwriting in a Fortune 100 company. 

 

How you will make an impact: 

Assist in the analyzing of data.  Educate the audience on the meaning of this data and what story it tells.  Make and present recommendations based on the findings of this analysis.

Work with the “A-Team” to help develop and implement projects to improve the underwriting function.

Work with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for efficiency.

Make recommendations to management related to development of the intern program.

Make recommendations to management related to development of the Underwriting Development Program.

 

Minimum Requirements: 

Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or fields related to business or healthcare 

Currently enrolled in a program of study at an accredited college/university 

Ability to work 40 hours per week for the duration of the Summer internship

 

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences: 

Candidates graduating in Dec 2026 or May 2027 with a 3.2 GPA or higher are preferred 

Demonstrated teamwork and leadership ability as evidenced in extracurricular activities

Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and a quick learner 

Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access) 

Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
