Materials Engineer Intern
Job Description
The Intern role is an introduction into the world of forensic and consulting engineering. The Intern will experience all facets of forensic engineering consulting including, but not limited to, technical research, report writing, site inspections and test projects. The role will receive coaching and mentorship provided by the Team Leads as well as access to all engineering and core functions of the company.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Apply technical discipline to conduct in-depth technical research concerning ongoing cases.
- Contribute to the investigation of an incident including but not limited to collection of evidence, documentation of site and associated equipment, and photograph all evidence and areas related to the claim.
- Work with the Team Lead to write reports based on investigative findings.
- Travel to required location(s) for site inspections.
- Setup and run test projects. Collect the requisite data and distill the data into usable information.
- Assist consultants with marketing efforts and matter related work on an as needed basis.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- General knowledge of materials science and engineering principles
- Strong technological skills and mathematical reasoning
- Strong written and oral expression and comprehension
- Critical thinking and problem-solving ability with the ability to troubleshoot technical problems
- Highly organized with attention to details
- Proficient knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word and Excel
- Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to contribute to the team-centric culture
- Cooperative and flexible in attitude and manner
Education and Experience:
- Attend 3rd or 4th year status in an accredited Materials Science or related Engineering Program.
- Students currently in a Master’s program preferred.
- Available to work in the Columbus, OH area.
- Related co-op or internship experience is a plus
- Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations is preferred.
