Nutritionist Assistant
Camp Skylemar, a premier residential summer camp in southern Maine (celebrating our 78th year!), is seeking an enthusiastic Nutrition Assistant for the summer of 2026.
The Nutritionist will support 25–35 campers with special dietary needs (celiac, diabetes, allergies, etc.) and lead a healthy eating initiative for our full community of 200 boys and 75 college-athlete counselors. This is a great opportunity for a motivated student or aspiring dietitian who loves working with kids and promoting wellness.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and support campers on special diets.
- Create allergy-safe menu alternatives that match camp meals.
- Prepare gluten/dairy-free options using proper food safety practices.
- Promote camp-wide healthy habits (smoothies, energy snacks, etc.).
- Collaborate with kitchen staff, counselors, and camp leadership.
- Serve as a trusted resource for campers with nutrition concerns.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of food allergies and dietary restrictions.
- Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience preparing allergen-safe meals preferred.
Details:
- Season: June 18 – August 11, 2024
- Compensation: Starting at $3,200 + free housing, meals, travel, laundry, Wi-Fi, staff gear, and time off.
- Internship or independent study supervision available (with school approval).
