Underage Tobacco Purchaser

One of my peers is seeking people between the ages of 16-19 years old to work as underage purchasers for tobacco compliance inspections on behalf of the US Food & Drug Administration. There are six inspectors located around the state, and each is either a retired peace officer or has a background which includes law enforcement.

The pay for underage purchaser is currently $16 per hour. The function of an underage purchaser is to conduct compliance checks, so while commuting from one site to another, for example, he or she could work on homework, read a book, play games on their phone, or even take a nap, if the distance travelled allows. We pick underage purchasers up and drop them back off, so they do not need their own transportation. Underage purchasers are paid the entire time they’re with us, so there is no unpaid commute time. It is a pretty good part-time job!

We are seeking underage purchasers within the targeted counties: Anoka, Wright, Isanti, Mille Lacs, Chisago, & northern Washington. We prefer to hire people who have daytime availability during weekdays, which might just be one day per week (If you aren’t available every week it still may be worth contacting her as our needs for underage purchasers in a given week can fluctuate). If yet in high school, students participating in PSEO classes or homeschooling often work; it is largely about general availability. Availability and reliability (working the days & times you agree to) are probably the most important attributes.

Inspector Berg will be happy to answer questions to offer a better idea of what to expect. We do not have a formal application through Handshake. If you are interested, contact her either by phone or email at:
