Technical Designer for Structural Engineering Firm
Role Description: As a Technical Designer, you will work collaboratively with the structural engineering design team to create 3D Revit models and generate the construction drawings on a wide array of projects and building types across the United States. This role is central to delivering high-quality, coordinated structural designs that meet both project requirements and industry standards
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary project team under the direction of the Structural Project Lead to develop structural design models and construction drawings
- Generate structural design deliverables using Autodesk Revit and Advance Steel modeling software
- Produce comprehensive construction documents from 3D models, including structural framing plans, foundation drawings, and detailed sections, in alignment with the project engineer’s specifications
- Conduct 3D project coordination using Autodesk Navisworks to integrate with available BIM models and laser scan data
- Identify clashes and discrepancies within the 3D model, communicate findings, and collaborate with the project team to resolve issues efficiently
- Independently plan and execute the development of structural drawing packages and deliverables
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to less experienced CAD technicians and designers, supporting their professional growth
- Required Experience
- AutoCAD, BIM, Revit or other related 3-D design software experience
- Knowledge of Bluebeam for project review and redline markups
- Ability to read, visualize and understand construction drawings
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to conceptualize and develop building structures from verbal instructions, with minimal to moderate supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery within client guidelines and project deadlines.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Compensation Summary
Hourly: $25 - $35 per hour depending on experience
Overtime, when required, will be compensated at 1-1/2 times the normal hourly rate
