Process Engineer-Operations Intern

 

Summary: 

The MBCI Intern Program offers exceptional opportunities to play an integral role in challenging value-added projects within the Operations department.  Each intern is assigned to a manager who will outline a project plan, coach, and provide performance feedback.  This is a project-based internship with broad exposure to daily operating activities.  At the completion of the internship, you will present the results and conclusions of your project.  Also, as an integral member of a team, you will work with professionals across the business assisting in periodic activities such as Project Leadership, Continuous Improvement activities, Engineering initiatives, Team Leadership, and Human Resources. 

  

Typical Tasks Involve:  

Support continuous improvement and process engineering initiatives across manufacturing/operations 

Conduct time studies and work observations to document current-state processes 

Assist with process audits, standard work verification, and compliance checks 

Collect, analyze, and visualize operational data (cycle time, throughput, waste, KPIs) 

Support implementation of Lean tools (6S, Kanban, SMED, value stream mapping, A3s) 

Co-lead or support Kaizen events, problem-solving workshops, improvement projects, and lean training sessions 

Prepare presentations and reports summarizing findings, recommendations, and results

Qualifications

Scheduled to graduate May 2026 - December 2026 

A cumulative GPA of 3.0+ 

Superior analytical, quantitative, leadership, interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills 

A keen attention to detail and an innovative mindset 

The proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment 

Preferred Bachelor Program: Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering
