Project Engineer 

Innovative Refrigeration Systems, Inc. is looking for a results-oriented Project Engineer in Lyndhurst, VA. Project Engineers are responsible for the successful delivery of a project from concept to commissioning. This role ensures that projects are completed to customer specifications and manages safety, quality, efficiency, and ensures budgets and timelines are met.

 

Innovative Refrigeration Systems, Inc. is a premier custom design build contractor for industrial refrigeration systems, providing design, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and service in-house.

 

Job Role: The Project Engineer plays a key role in overseeing small to medium-scale refrigeration construction projects from award through final punch list completion. This position ensures proper coordination of all trades, effective communication with clients and contractors, and adherence to project schedules, scope, and budget. The Project Engineer reports to the VP of Project Management and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams.

 

Key Duties:

  • Ensure a safe worksite
  • Manage small to medium-scale refrigeration construction projects from award through commissioning and final punch list
  • Maintain customer communication with owners and general contractors
  • Review and understand contracts
  • Coordinate work across all involved trades
  • Develop, maintain, and meet project schedules aligned with general contractor timelines
  • Ensure adequate staffing and timely delivery of required materials and tools
  • Build and maintain relationships with national and local vendors
  • Manage project scope and quote change orders as necessary
  • Oversee engineering progress throughout the design phase
  • Track material requirements and delivery schedules with purchasing
  • Perform any other tasks necessary to complete the project

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BSME preferred) or prior project management experience
  • Strong negotiation skills with ability to deliver cost-effective materials in a timely manner
  • Capable of making independent business decisions within budget
  • Excellent organizational and documentation abilities
  • Strong problem-solving and prioritization skills
  • Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to provide weekend and evening support to field teams as needed
  • Collaborative team player across office, shop, and field functions
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles with a focus on electrical systems
  • This position is a safety-sensitive position and will require pre-employment and regular drug testing.

 

Preferences:

  • Prior experience in construction or manufacturing preferred
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project job sites
