Adapted Physical Education Teacher for Torrance Unified! Hiring for the 2026 -2027 Year!
Torrance Unified School District is seeking a qualified and compassionate Adapted Physical Education (APE) Teacher to serve students with disabilities across multiple school sites for the remainder of the 2025–2026 academic year. This position may be extended into the 2026–2027 school year based on district needs and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive motor assessments and develop individualized goals for students with disabilities.
- Provide direct and consultative adapted physical education services in accordance with students’ IEPs.
- Collaborate with general education PE teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and families to support inclusive practices.
- Modify curriculum, equipment, and activities to ensure safe and meaningful participation in physical education.
- Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and participate in IEP meetings.
- Travel between school sites within the district as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field.
- Valid California Teaching Credential in Physical Education with an Adapted Physical Education Added Authorization (APEAA) or equivalent.
- Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and adapted PE best practices.
- Ability to work effectively with students of diverse abilities and backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a K–12 school setting providing APE services.
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Bilingual proficiency is a plus.
