Summer 2026 Industrial Engineering Intern
ABOUT THE ROLE
The JELD-WEN Summer Internship Program empowers talented undergraduate students to gain real-world working experience and professional development. This position is focused on manufacturing engineering in our Statesville, NC Plant. The internship program includes meaningful projects and challenging work assignments geared at developing professional competencies and skills in a chosen discipline. Additionally, throughout the summer internship, participants will have the opportunity for professional development, mentoring, and networking opportunities to help enhance future leadership.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Complete a mechanical design project from concept through implementation
- Use 3D printers and shop equipment to fabricate custom tooling to support plant production needs
- Shadow and support the plant manufacturing engineer
- Work schedule: Mon-Fri in person

SKILLS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE
Required
- Currently enrolled rising junior or senior students majoring in: Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
- Proficiency in CAD
- Enjoy hands‑on tasks and problem solving
- Intermediate Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency
- Positive attitude with demonstrated work ethic and detail-orientation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to work on a team
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
Recommended
- Prior internship or job in a manufacturing facility
- Proficiency with shop equipment including (bandsaws, drill presses, knee mills, etc.)
- FDM 3D printing experience
- CNC machining experience
