Education Intern

Position Title: Education Intern

Department: Education (Goizueta Children’s Experience)

Required Commitment Period: Summer Session, up to 15 hours weekly; 120 hours total. 

Start/End Dates: 5/1/26 – 7/24/26 

Application Deadline: 04/14/26 

General Description: The Goizueta Children’s Experience is preparing to launch an exciting new theme: Atlanta Sports! Designed for children ages 0–8, this interactive gallery uses hands-on activities, developmentally appropriate programming, and creative storytelling to celebrate teamwork, perseverance, and hometown pride. This internship supports the Education Department during the exhibit’s transition and reopening. The selected intern will help prepare program materials, assist with gallery readiness, and support daily operations. The role may also include early childhood program research, curriculum development, and education facilitation for young learners and families. This position offers exposure to multiple areas of museum education and is ideal for a student interested in early childhood learning, informal education, and visitor engagement. Some weekend availability is required. Availability to support major public programs, including Juneteenth (Friday, June 19), is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with creating and implementing Goizueta Children’s Experience content and lesson plans for children ages 0-8. 

• Assist in revising content related to school tours based on exhibit’s new theme. 

• Assist with researching sports-adjacent organizations and community partners to identify opportunities for future partnerships and program collaborations. 

• Assist in administrative tasks related to the education department. 

• Assist in communicating with parents and stakeholders. 

• Assist with basic department organization and other duties as assigned by supervisors. 

• Assist with other departmental tasks as assigned by supervisors. 

• Assist in the Goizueta Children’s Experience space as needed.

Desired Skills and Competencies

• Experience developing developmentally appropriate, engaging lessons. 

• Comfortable working with children ages 0-8 years old 

• Strong research abilities, written and oral communication skills. 

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Canva. 

• Flexible and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment; complete tasks under a deadline 

• Strong organizational skills: to communicate effectively and to work independently. 

• Sensitivity to cultural and artistic diversity 

• Proficient in Spanish is preferred, but not required. 

• Relevant degrees include Education, History, Health and Physical Education, Psychology and Early Childhood Development
