Hiring Needs: Secondary Education - Math/Science/Special Education

Salary

$50k-$60k/year, 4-day workweek, Paid Time Off, Dental and Health Insurance, 401K with 5% Matching

Full Time or Part Time - we are flexible on your availability

Summary

Turning Winds is a long-term residential treatment center for adolescents located in Northwestern Montana.  The ideal candidate works well with teens.  In addition, the candidate performs the duties of a classroom teacher in their area of expertise and is responsible for the development of student academic growth toward specific goals. 

Special Education certification required either at the time or hiring or within 60 days. Will also be responsible for teaching either math, social studies, science or English. Responsible for supervision, instruction, remediation, developing individual student plans, communicating student progress, attending faculty meetings, etc.

Academic Education and/or Experience

· Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution

  • Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, state
  • Subject teaching credential or certification subject
  • Montana State certification or be able to be certified in 90 days
  • Teaching experience
  • Knowledge of relevant technology

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Duties

1. Provides classroom instruction in subject areas

2. Coordinates and facilitates non-classroom experiential learning activities.

3. Develops and prepares lesson plans and instructional materials.

5. Maintains records and reports regarding each student’s attendance and educational development.

6. Follows behavioral management plans, policies, and procedures and report occurrences correctly.

7. Meets with faculty, parent or families.

8. Participates in school events, graduations, and group activities

Skills Qualification

General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and secretarial techniques; thorough knowledge of English, spelling and arithmetic; ability to word process accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to make arithmetical calculations; ability to meet the public effectively; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to follow oral and written instruction; ability to learn and use testing software and update student digital records; ability to supervise adult and student help in the office and work with other high schools.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
