Student Assistant Internship (Emerging Services), Ref# 10975

Duties Description

Under the direction of the Tech Analyst, the Student Intern will support the evaluation, testing, and documentation of technology products. This role focuses on integrating solutions and developing internal processes for end-user and business team support. Duties include:

  • Assist in the creation and execution of test plans for technology products to validate functionality against business requirements.
  • Identify, document, and track product bugs, defects, and limitations.
  • Contribute to the assessment of product suitability for organizational needs.
  • Collaborate with the team to understand the features and functionalities of selected technology products.
  • Develop clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for internal support staff, end-users, and business teams. This may include:
    • Installation and configuration guides.
    • User manuals and how-to guides.
    • Troubleshooting tips and FAQs.
    • Best practice recommendations for utilizing product features.
    • End-user guidelines for leveraging product capabilities.
  • Translate technical aspects of products into accessible language for non-technical audiences.
  • Create and refine processes for product implementation, management, and support.
  • Work with the Tech Analyst, support teams, and stakeholders to understand needs and communicate findings.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to product strategy discussions.
  • Proactively learn about new technologies and support best practices.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Programming/Scripting: Basic scripting skills (Python, JavaScript, etc.) can be valuable for automating tasks or interacting with API based tools.
  • CICD Pipelines and microservices such as Kubernetes
  • Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is beneficial as many applications run in cloud environments.
  • Networking Fundamentals: Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g., protocols, TCP/IP, Syslog) can aid in troubleshooting performance issues.
  • OpenSource tools and concepts: Experiences with Prometheus, OTEL, Grafana, FluentBit, FluentD, NGINX, would be helpful

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a US citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be currently attending a New York State college, university or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State
  • Must have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year’s worth of academic credits over a more extended period of time may qualify part-time students) OR currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program
  • Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or equivalent to a C.
