Estimating Intern
TITLE: Intern- Estimating
REPORTS TO: Director of Construction Operations
Position Summary: As Estimating Intern, you are tasked with actively participating in the day-to-day activities assigned to you in order to learn and grow your understanding of estimating and procuring work in a commercial construction organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Assist with preparing bid invitations and soliciting subcontractor bids
- Help to perform detailed quantity takeoffs using On-Screen Takeoff
- Attend pre-bid meetings with Estimators and assist with meeting minutes
- Communicate with subcontractors to ensure proper coverage
- Review subcontractor proposals to assist in the selection of the lowest qualified bid
- Assist in bid submissions and proposal presentations
- Participates in value engineering process
- Update and maintain historic cost database & subcontractor database
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- At least a sophomore in college working towards a degree in Construction Management or Engineering
- Construction document-literate
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Solid understanding of phases of construction
