SOCIAL MEDIA INTERNSHIP (REMOTE) — EMPOWER OVERSIGHT 

 

Empower Oversight Whistleblowers & Research (EMPOWR) is seeking three (3) Social Media Interns for Spring or Summer 2026. Empower Oversight is a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization dedicated to strengthening independent oversight of government wrongdoing and helping whistleblowers report fraud, waste, abuse, and corruption without retaliation.

Led by former Capitol Hill investigators, Empower Oversight supports individuals who come forward with credible allegations and works to ensure the proper authorities act on the information they receive. Empower currently represents, for example, the IRS whistleblowers who raised concerns about the handling of the Hunter Biden criminal tax investigation, helping them navigate legal protections and responsibly alert Congress.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Interns will support Empower Oversight’s communications team by helping expand the organization’s digital reach and storytelling. Responsibilities may include:

  • Drafting and scheduling social media content for X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn
  • Writing captions and post copy that match Empower’s voice (clear, factual, mission-focused)
  • Creating simple graphics in Canva (templates provided) and formatting short video clips for social
  • Assisting with content calendars and campaign support for events, announcements, and multimedia projects
  • Monitoring performance metrics and suggesting improvements based on engagement
  • Supporting rapid-response posting when news breaks related to oversight, transparency, or whistleblower accountability

 

WHO SHOULD APPLY

This opportunity is ideal for undergraduate or graduate students interested in communications, journalism, marketing, political science, public policy, or related fields. Applicants should have:

  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with major social platforms and best practices
  • Basic comfort with Canva (or willingness to learn quickly)
  • Good judgment and professionalism with sensitive or high-visibility topics
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment
