QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be Wisconsin DPI certified K-12 in Instrumental Music (1506)
o Additional certification in Choral and/or General Music is preferred
· Must have the desire and ability to teach in a mainstream classroom.
· Knowledge of or experience with PBIS and/or Restorative Practices is preferred.
· Must be able to travel between multiple buildings.
· Willingness to be involved in extended-day teaching activities and/or programs.
· A flexible and collaborative attitude toward scheduling and working with other content teachers is preferred.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Music continues to be an important part of both the Sheboygan Area School District and the Sheboygan community. Candidates will be familiar with the state and national standards of music along with a diverse knowledge of pedagogy to teach those standards. Understanding and knowledge of Kodaly and Orff methodologies, tools for practical application of music technology, and the ability to teach musical understanding through performance (CMP) are also desired. Candidates will understand how to engage all children in learning, adapting to a diverse population of students, including English Learners and children with disabilities. Flexibility and a team focus to work within the music department are important. In addition, experience with or a strong desire to learn to integrate the music curriculum with the arts and other subjects is a must.
