Salary: $19.52 - $21.76 per hour

Summary

Incumbents will serve as Education Technicians, providing education and community outreach activities.

These positions may be filled for a seasonal period, up to 1560 hours, but can vary due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: August - December 2026 (locations vary).

This announcement has a 300-application limit and may close early if the application limit is reached.

Prepares and presents curriculum-based educational programs both virtually and in person, and develops and presents youth programs for all levels of students.

  • Uses a variety of presentation techniques and education philosophy and methods.
  • Presents formal interpretive programs, conducts informal roving visitor contacts, staffs the visitor center, and assists with the junior ranger program.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
  • Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
  • Government housing is available at Canyonlands (Moab, UT), Glacier, and Grand Teton.
  • Government housing may be available at Canyonlands (Monticello, UT), Colorado National Monument, Manhattan Project, Rocky Mountain, and Zion.
  • Government housing is not available at San Antonio Missions.
  • You may be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
  • You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and/or shift work.
  • Colorado National Monument has two split seasons from late August to mid-November and early March to mid-June, with a period of non-pay in December, January, and February.
  • You may be required to travel overnight away from home occasionally.
  • You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
  • You may be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties. Prior to your first official motor vehicle operation, and again every year thereafter (or more frequently if management determines such need exists), you will be required to sign an affidavit certifying to your possession of a valid State issued driver's license that is current and has not been revoked, suspended, canceled, or otherwise disqualified in any way to prohibit your operation of a motor vehicle. You will also submit a photocopy of your valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.
  • Spanish and English language proficiency is required for one position at Colorado National Monument and one position at Zion National Park.
