Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in procedures using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Schedule appointments accurately using medical scheduling software, coordinate with providers, and manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy.
- Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle medical billing tasks including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and Medicare documentation review to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Maintain organized medical records by filing documents correctly and managing electronic health information management systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix.
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient demographics, updating health histories, and explaining clinic policies while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Support front desk operations by answering phone calls with excellent phone etiquette, managing appointment reminders, and handling patient inquiries efficiently.
- Perform clerical duties such as data entry (including 10 key typing), faxing, scanning documents, and maintaining filing systems to ensure seamless office management.
Experience
- Prior clinic or medical office experience is highly preferred; familiarity with dental terminology or dental clinic experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar platforms like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing processes including insurance verification and Medicare documentation.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and health information management software.
- Bilingual abilities are desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting involving front desk duties, patient service roles, or office management will be advantageous.
