Environmental Health & Safety Application Support Specialist and Student Assistant

JOB PURPOSE:

The internship offers an opportunity for real-world experience in requirement gathering, software configuration and user acceptance testing. The Intern will assist in requirements gathering, design specifications, configuration and testing of Reliance platform to meet certain business process needs for EHS. (WE ARE ALSO LOOKING FOR A STUDENT ASSISTANT FOR THE KENNESAW CAMPUS)

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Currently enrolled KSU student with a minimum of sixty (60) completed course hours in computer science or software engineering.

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Experience in at least one programming language (Java, Python, C++ etc.)

 

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW AND/OR INSTITUTION:

None

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferred qualifications)

· Experience in designing and developing software.

· Proficient in Java, Python and SQL.

· Experience in requirements gathering.

· Good academic standing (cumulative GPA: 3.0 or higher preferred)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Participate in requirements gathering and assist with development of design specifications.

2. Configure application solutions as directed to meet defined processes based on design specifications.

3. Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

4. Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion with guidance from the supervisor.

5. Effectively communicate relevant project information to superiors.

6. Collaborate with vendor Technical Support, UITS, as needed to address issues.

7. Respond to customer regarding Reliance product issues and features.

8. Create document including audit plans, schedule and checklists.

9. Enter and update record in the system as needed.

10. Train other employees on application, as needed.

· Knowledge of software development process.

· Self-motivated and the ability to quickly learn new technologies.

· Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and propose solutions.

· Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines.

· Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills.

· Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)

· Strong attention to detail and follow up skills.

· Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
