Green Scholars Internship Program
Position Summary:
The Green Scholars program (Unpaid-Internship) is a project-based, honors-level high school curriculum that seeks to inspire high school students to create change in their communities while building a foundation of knowledge that will enable them to do so. By educating students on the basics of sustainability, giving them resources to succeed in professional settings, and helping students develop skills necessary to complete a sustainability project for their community, the Green Scholars program strives to empower students to help create a more sustainable world. The Green Scholars Development team consists of four sub-teams: Environmental Literacy, project management, and program management.
• Environmental Literacy & Community Engagement: The Environmental Literacy sub team educates students on the basics of the environment and the importance of sustainability. By becoming more environmentally literate, students can choose a sustainability project they are most passionate about and understand how environmental issues impact their everyday lives. This team focuses on teaching students the basics of environmental science theory and its application to real-world problems.
• Project & Program Management: The Project & Program Management sub team educates students on successfully designing, implementing, and managing sustainability projects in their schools or communities. Project development is vital to the Green Scholars curriculum, allowing students to explore and understand sustainability through hands-on projects. This team ensures students have the resources necessary to bring positive change to their communities. Additionally, this sub team assists teachers in implementing the Green Scholars program and prepares them for the various scenarios they may face while delivering the curriculum. Interns may also work on creating informative AI videos, researching environmental issues, and producing content that educates and inspires students.
• AI & Digital Curriculum Specialist: The AI & Digital Curriculum Specialist is responsible for creating, compiling, and curating video content that educates middle and high school students on sustainability initiatives. This role plays a crucial part in the Green Scholars curriculum by producing AI-driven videos and other digital media that inspire students to act in their lives. The specialist will also research environmental issues, assist in data analysis, and support the integration of sustainability principles across various projects.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead and oversee the interns on the Green Scholars team, coordinating projects in one of the four sub-teams.
• Ensure that content creation, curriculum development, and project management align with the department's goals and deadlines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability concepts into the curriculum and projects.
• Provide guidance, support, and feedback to the intern teams to enhance productivity and learning outcomes.
• Assist with the strategic planning and execution of projects, ensuring timely completion and high-quality work.
• Act as the main point of contact for team members, offering mentorship and conflict resolution as needed.
• Manage communication between the team and upper management to maintain transparency and streamline operations.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Strong leadership and organizational abilities, with experience managing teams in an educational or sustainability context.
• Excellent communication, research, and project management skills.
• Background in sustainability, environmental science, or a related field.
• Creativity, adaptability, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
• Proficiency in using digital tools for communication and project management.
• 6-8 months of availability to fully commit to the role and see projects through to completion.
• Experience working with educational programs or curriculum development is a plus.
