Construction Accounting Internship
Program Background
Hatzel & Buehler, Inc. College Internship Program is designed to introduce students to the wide range of career opportunities within the electrical construction industry. Since its inception, the program has consistently supported students in developing professional skills, building workplace relationships, and gaining meaningful, hands-on experience.
Program participants have gone on to achieve significant post-internship success, including acceptance into local IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) apprenticeship programs and securing full-time employment within the industry.
Program Overview
Join our team for a hands-on 12-week internship where you’ll gain real-world experience in branch-level accounting for one of the nation’s leading electrical construction firms. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals on live projects, building practical skills from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Support job setup, cost tracking, and closure processes
- Run and analyze job cost reports and budget vs. actual variances
- Process field payroll, AR notes, and billing for small jobs and work orders
- Handle change requests, price adjustments, and job commitments
- Interpret cost/profit loss reports and percent complete methodology
- Assist with month-end close and summary financials
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with accounting software a plus
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Through this experience, you will build a strong foundation in both technical and professional competencies while gaining insight into potential long-term career paths within the organization and industry.

Salary: $20.00/hour
